10-4. So all of the canals are good? I know there is a hill on your side but not so much across the lake from you and across knollwood.

Everybody on the lake is and will be fine. It's the folks below the dam(Parkland and Jefferson Point) and along Third Loop or Alligator rd that will get flooded if one or both or the dams break.

The water dropped 6 inches over night and another 6 inches since daybreak in my yard.

Oakdale and Forest Lake are both dropping. I did find a 20 ft wide slough of the dam near the spillway where there is not enough slope on the dam. I believe it collapsed under it's on weight.

Overall it looks like the dam will hold, for now.

The goose is a Quill Lakes Goose. Estimated population less than 10,000.

It has the unusual white band on the chest, white wing tips, white neck, and pink pigmented feet.

The story is the Quill Lakes region of Saskatchewan has a sub-set species of geese with recessive traits that throw this genetic mutation pattern. It can occur in any area of Canada but there are more geese with recessive genes near Quill Lake.

We typically hunt layouts but tried the stand-up blind with the same fauna in the area. I put two large limbs in the ground about 30 yards out of our setup on each side to look like more bushes.

6 of us whacked about 80 ducks and geese that morning. I was shocked that they were not shy of the blind. The sun was behind us with a very light breeze. One huge advantage was it is easier to shoot from your feet and easy to shoot behind you. Occasionally geese will coast just upwind in range and this setup allowed us to take them.

We tried it again the next morning. Someone beat us to our spot so we moved a field over. We had poor luck. The field had been shot before. Geese flared.

I guess the age old lesson is be where they want to be.
