    Default My new boat (project)

I always enjoyed when people would post these so I though I would share my experience with y'all too. I got this 1650 triton with a 25 on it and immediately strapped this 50 on the back. I wish it was a little faster but I guess I'm pleased with the speed. I put some paint on it and hyrdoturfed it. The rest of the boat is rhino lined. I also still have a new stereo and led strip lights to install.

Good job. You got yourself a real nice boat now. With that 4 stroke 50 it should be in the 35 to 37 MPH range. That's plenty for a good hunting/fishing boat.

The max I'm getting is 34 mph. I would be pretty happy if I could get 37mph

My cousin has a 1651 pretty much just like mine. He went with the Yamaha 4 stroke 50. I got the Tohatsu 2 stroke 50. He runs about 33/34 with the Yamaha. Mine runs about 38 with a 14 pitch prop.

Not sure if its the extra motor weight or what? But it is definitely about 4/5 mph slower. He is running the stock prop and I dropped from a 15 to a 14 pitch to carry a load better.

You need to take the restrictor out of the intake. And have the computer re flashed to 60hp.

It has a stiletto prop, I can't see what pitch it is so I guess I'll have to take it off and look. I was getting 5100rpm any time but when I put my girl friend up in the front I was getting it up to 5400 rpm

I have never heard of this, do you know someone that has done this and who I might talk to about having this done?

I too remember that boat when it was listed. I almost bought it a couple of times but kept talking myself out of it.

If the motor isn't EFI would taking the restrictor plate out mess with the air/gas ratio?
