    Default AR build?

OK, so I bought a lower and want to start reading and researching my likes and dislikes.
I'm in no hurry and want to spread the cost out over time thus allowing me to learn more.
What is the best reading material or instructional videos for an AR build?

What are you trying to do with it specifically?
    Defense, hunting, competition, just plinking?

Whatever you choose, you simply don't know what you don't know.
It takes some time to figure out your personal tastes and what works best for you.
    So dive in!

You can waste more time at www.ar15.com than you can here.

Get a good barrel and trigger. The rest is personal preference.

    truth.

I recommend a mid or rifle length gas barrel and single stage trigger. To find out what you like will take holding and shooting a few different guns.

When you meet me at my place, I'll bring my AR's for you to shoot. I'm a relative newby but have developed some opinions and preferences already.

    Excellent!
That's what I want, is to hold other builds for comparison.
I plan to build this gun for accuracy so the barrel and trigger are obviously paramount.
I have a mil spec trigger in the lower I just put together but that will be changed in due time.
Trying to spread the cost out over a few months and learn the basics as I go.
Thanks guys, the Brownell's video is nice!

The ALG ACT trigger is really nice for the money (in all my builds except my 6.8). POF has some nice triggers as well.

Nordic Components makes an excellent barrel money. I have one in my three gun rifle and it shoots as well as a $400 Shilen I have in another rifle.
Criterion and Black Hole Weaponry make a very good barrels as well.
If I was starting over I would by a Kreiger Service rifle barrel and have it fluted under the handguard to save some weight.

This group was shot at 600 yds with an upper built by Apache Machine, the same guy that built my 6.5 Creedmoor. 77 SMKs over TAC.

BHW was a sponsor at the 3 Gun. Nation SE regional last year. They must have had 50 barrels on the prize table. I picked up two. 18" SS 1-8 556 chamber. Both were on a shelf till recently. Sold one and built my youngest an upper and it will shoot! They make very good barrels.
