So I'm not going to beat a dead horse and go on and on and on. I personally am a GM guy, but for the record I hate DOD (displacement on demand) or actively known as AFM. GM came out with this with the new 5.3 so basically 2007 and on. Their theory is to kill oil pressure to certain cyl's and collapse the lifter to stop the cyl from firing and being active. The concept is better fuel mileage. The concept freaking sucks!! I'm going to attach a photo of cyl 4 lifters which happen to be one of the 4 cyls that are AFM. It has ruined the lifter and flat spotted the cam. The spark plug was caked in "soot". This engine has 112000 miles on it. If I were a owner of this system I would delete AFM/DOD immediately. This repair cost 2700.00.
As a paying site sponsor, I can say a2z will delete AFM and "tune" your vehicle for 300.00. Basically the tune gets rid of DOD and torque management. Torque management is where the engine retards timing during trans shifting to give a "smoother" shift. People say they get 1 to 3 more mpg's after the tune. I can't confirm this but I promise getting rid of DOD is well worth 300.00.
Look at the lifter to the left. In your spare time Google Active Fuel Management
And as always, thank you for your business.
