Ducks Unlimited ad ruffling feathers among Saskatchewan farmers

A radio ad is ruffling a lot of feathers.

Ducks Unlimited is running radio commercials in Saskatchewan about the impact of drainage after this summer's flooding.

The ads ask farmers to re-examine how they drain water off their land.

Scott Stevens with Ducks Unlimited said the point is to educate people about the impact of draining wetlands to make way for crops.

"I think it's part of having that conversation and just bringing people along and educating them about what the new science is telling us about the impacts of some of the things that we had done in the past and weren't aware of," he said.

Stevens said science shows the impact of unmitigated drainage caused by agriculture.

"In our opinion, it means being able to produce food and fibre and those sorts of things that everyone needs while also not negatively impacting communities."

Farmers in Saskatchewan are firing back on Twitter. Below are a couple of examples.
