Took a little while, and we ain't done 100% at this site yet. We still have 5 more in a group that have been in the trap but are so irregular that they are just a luckly target at this time, because we have pigs on another bait site that we will need to catch shortly.
So heres how it started.
Doesn't take long and they are on bait, but that's where it gets tougher!
I'm not going to load all the photos, but basically we had a group of 5(3 sows 2 piglets) first. They were regular until another group showed up, it was 13(sow, boar, 11 piglets). IF the big group showed it would be 3 days before the 5 would come back to the site. The 13 were a little more regular, but still not on a tight pattern.
So we built the trap.
Then that's when Murphy showed up!
Here is the frist group the first night, minus one sow who was trap shy. I have video of her staying on the outside while others are inside trap eating.
Second day Murphy arrives!
Doesn't seem to bother the second group though.
We fixed the feeder damn things tried to eat the feeder battery! Once we replaced motor we had to put bag on the feeder to make feed fall straight down so they would be concenrated under feeder and best shot with camera. Spin feeder to check and look what happens!
So now we are ready! Except the boar aint with them.
So he screws up shows next day in day light. He dies!
So now the piglets show with no sow.
But she shows(we think at that time) hours later. Since it is almost daylight and fellas was going down to srap anyway, he dropped the gate.
So now we think we have both the big pigs running with this group dead. We just sit back a watch for a few days to make sure there isn't a big pig out side. After watching video outside and camera inside with no evidence we decide they are dead time to catch the piglets. Then they change up and leave for a few days. They showed on a camera on other end of property, but they mess up they come back!
Thats when murphy shows up again! Camera batteries(which work the gate are almost dead. I get a text during middle of the day and they are in the trap, so I send the command to drop the gate, but because of the low batteries it takes longer than normal and we only catch 2 of the 11.
So that sucked, but they are young and dumb and its easy food so Im not worried. Murphy hangs around again for one more night and lets them fatten up just a little more. They return Saturday evening, but in our hast to get off the site after catching the 2 we pulled gate and it hung on latch so it didn't drop when it was texted. So I go down Sunday afternoon and realized what had happened! Sucks but still confident they will be back.
Saturday night(notice its just 9 now not 11)
So waiting last night while watching College baseball, I get this texted to my phone.
Quick count and send the command to drop the gate.

IT wasn't easy but we got all but the original 5 who have not been at site in 13 days. Now that the others are gone we will give them til Friday to show if they don't we will start getting the next site ready.
Here's a video from the trap cam with the shooting starts.
Then the work begins!
