    Default Dead catfish

Ok so I've got three catfish heads that I found on the bottom of the pond this morning. I'm not sure what killed and ate them but whatever it was was hungry. Each fish was probably about 10 to 15 pounds and it is just the untouched heads that remain. I looked around the bank and didn't see any tracks. This just happened last night because I put these fish in there yesterday. Any ideas on who the culprit is?

If its an otter wouldn't they wipe out the bass too? There's about 50 little bass that have been in the pond for years

Otters will get the catfish first. They may get the larger bass, but a lot of little ones seem to survive. That's how it happens in my pond. They come every winter.

I'm with the consensus... Otter or turtle is the culprit

Otters will wipeout a catfish pond in the blink of an eye. Bass and panfish are more agile and prove a greater challenge.

Otter. We used to have issues with them in our ponds. Couldn't keep catfish in there to save our lives.

Well doesn't look like he came by last night based on the few catfish still alive and no more heads around but I've set a few traps and may go with the spotlight tonight.
