    Treble hook and casting weight.

have an this 8.2 on the wall.

it was my first "big bass" caught in a small public pond in orangeburg. pond was full of lilly pads and nobody fished it with frogs. when i figured that pond out i caught a dozen or more over 8 lbs that summer. biggest was a little over 9, but i already had the one at the taxidermist. i was about 13-14 years old... since then ive still never caught one over ten, but i have a spot reserved on the wall if i ever do.

biggest in a public lake was a 6.6 in the trees across from packs on a buzz bait. caught three that day over 4lbs and lost a few more at the boat. i happened to hit them right that day.

i had a legit 12+ pounder hooked one day in a friends pond. fought him all the way to the boat, he jumped about 5 feet from the boat, showed us how huge he was, then dove to the bottom and wrapped me around a stump. that was only a few years ago, and i damn near cried. the biggest caught out of that particular pond was over 14 and this one was damn close to that. i can still see that fish jump out the water like it happened this morning....the guy who i was fishing with (pond owner) has two mounted over 12 out of that pond, and i watched him let this 9.95lber go the day before i lost the monster...

Woodrow Smiths / SM Johnsons pond- HORRY, SC

10+ pounds- caught several in this range- we never kept them

The water got low one year, half his house sits on land the other on an island, water goes underneath it- they dip netted one BIG OLE SOW in this channel that had swallowed head first another 6# bass- had them mounted that way- very cool-

I don't bass fish anymore, but growing up in Sumter I was hell on a neighborhood pond with a bait caster and a bicycle. I caught 3-4 over 9 but never a 10.

There is a private pond between Sumter and Columbia near the river where 9-10 lb bass are very common. My dad and I caught 8 over seven pounds in two hours one afternoon. On topwater. Incredible place.

I drive by it often. I would love to fish that place. Oh and I still want to go rabbit hunting. Set it up.

A southern tradition, or at least in my family. You would be surprised how many people turn their nose up to some fried fish eggs...

Now that I'm old and forgetful, I wish I would have recorded some of my big fish.

The biggest ones got away but I've landed quite a few 8-10.

Caught 4 one night over 7~
