    PBiz,

You realize the Commorant Police will be along shortly to complain about a photo of the landing. Now every permit holder will be at that landing.

I didn't realize how many of these things were on the lake. Reckon I've never spent time "looking" for them. I'm sure this depredation hunt will help some, but I'm afraid on such a small scale it's kinda like shooting an elephant with a BB gun. It would be like controlling the snow goose population by only hunting 3 counties in Arkansas. I hope that this "season" somewhat meets the desired goals and can be implemented on a much larger scale to include multiple states. In the mean time let's hammer down and killed as many as our shoulders will allow!

They need to have it where the rockfish spawn. Thousands of those nasty things gorge on the shad that the spawning rockfish need to feed on.

The last 2 days they have been gorging on a buffet of BBB, BB, and #2's served hot from the scatter fire grill!

I fish the rockfish run pretty hard and while I do see some, I don't see as many as you would think.
But the terrain would allow for a hundred or so to really work on some shad.
Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.

I would think so. They should be issuing permmits at the meeting. AT least that's what my buddy is expecting.

It doesn't seem to me that there are as many on the lake this year as it has been the last 3 or 4 years. It may have something to do with the weather.

I encouraged DNR to issue permits at the meeting. They said depending on how many people show up.

These birds are to blame for the decline in bait fish. That means less cats, stripers and bass.

There is always a direct proportion of predators to prey. I found very little bait when I worked the big water on lake Marion. I believe these birds are the primary reason.

One we killed sunday regurgitated a 10" Largemouth. They are eating more than bait fish.
