What's the limit on those smiling cats?
Its a solution to a problem that doesnt exist! Seems it would make trotlines, bushlines and bowfishing a thing of the past

Yep. Bye Bye bowfishing on Santee.
You do not see enough flatheads to make it worth the trip. It gets old REAL fast shooting carp and gar.

How do you plan to vote Duct Tape?
What are your thoughts?
It looks like an attempt to limit the commercial trotline business.
They claim no one showed up at the meetings against the bill.
I have rarely ever exceeded 10 cats per person while fishing even in the good years. I have exceeded while spearing but not often. When I have ended up with 30 or so cats, I later regretted it when cleaning them.
Either write things worth reading, or do things worth writing.
which meeting? there was a whole building full of people against it at the meeting i attended at santee state park.
there are alot of commercial fisherman that will loose their lively hood from this "bill" 10 catfish a day will not pay the bills, especially ten 15 pounders.
like someone mentioned earlier. this is a solution to a problem that doesnt exist.
Then I would suggest the stakeholders who agree or disagree, contact their legislators.
There are those who are saying this is a proposal that is back by a majority of the stakeholders at the meetings. I did not attend and do not know. All of these "stakeholder" meetings begin with an agenda.
Don't shoot the messenger. BTW, I am posting my solutions to the roads and school problems in the appropriate thread section on scducks. This is the freshwater section of scducks.

Why would anyone pay to catch a damn catfish?

No limit, they are not a game fish. Kill as many as you can. Our state has the worst game management in the United States.
A commorant season to help our native fish populations , to a bill to protect a damn catfish.
My biggest issue is changing the one 36" to 32". In reality most boats have more than 1 person so 20 catfish is a gracious plenty. Also from my understanding the commercial guys will not held to the same limit or did I miss something?
My blood is boiling in my veins just for the pure fact that I know there is nothing we can do! 36" was BS, 32" is even worse!! I attended the meeting in MC, and there is no doubt that certain types of fishing and fishermen were targeted.
I didn't see in the bill a time frame. I know on DNR's website it state revaluate in 4 years. Is that still what DNR is purposing?
Guides will not be affected by this at all. Most guides will probably push for this. All the guides that I know do their best to talk the clients into releasing the fish anyways. 10 fish is a gracious amount bc in most cases that will be at least 20 fish able to be brought in. Id say that the commercial fisherman should be limited to a seasonal time frame so that they can still find means of income elsewhere.
