    Default Grain drill question

I am not a farmer, so if this is a really dumb question, I apologize. Could I use a grain drill to plant sunflowers or corn if I blocked off some of the holes that the seed come out of to get the proper row spacing? If this were to work, what size tractor would I need to pull a 10' drill? Its flat here. Thanks.

Yes you can plant sunflowers and corn with a drill if you block off every other hole. Depends on if the drill is a no till or conventional till. If it is a conventional till a 35 hp tractor will work if a no till then id say a 60 hp might do it probably closer to a 70 hp for a minimum.

yes, we have done this in years past. Works pretty good. The plant spacing is ok, our drill bunches them up a little close though. I think the row spacing was like 30" too... Little too skinny for spraying behind them.
