    Default battery in laptop

I have a 6 year old laptop that just keeps going. I do back it up right much.

Anyway, one of the batteries is heading south and I just rotated in the other battery.

My question, if a battery is going bad and I run the computer on AC power most of the time, does the bad battery hurt performance when it is on AC. Right now that battery won't get over 17% charge. The other is at 100%.

When I buy a laptop, I take the battery out. Only when I need the battery does it ever go into the computer.

My batteries always outlast the computer.

And yes - you slowly kill batteries by keeping them installed.

I know it does them in but I have powewr if something comes unplugged.

I wa just wondering if a bad battery is a drain on the speed of the system.
