with deer movement being poor in my haunts, I think I am gonna have to resort to bass fishing this weekend...

anybody got any pointers for boring, hot, late summer fishing?

well i know you want to throw your secret weapon, but it almost out of season.....

i always have good luck with hard topwater baits.....doe sthe body of water have shad of any sorts. Whatever small baitfish is in your mud puddle will depict color.....

if you are not where the bait is you are pissing in the wind.........

    locate the bait
determine the species, for color mostly
wait till bout 6:00 throw your white vanilla

then as it gets later start pounding the stumps and areas with BAIT(usually hitting the top themselves) with the topwater plug.......this time of year you want noise and splash....no, not rattles, propellers and spitters

    SAMMY you think

i have never fished in my life, but someone told me it would work...

    how about fishing at NIGHT?

i have never fished much past dark, but can you really catch them after dark?

i would love to try it...and have heard to use a black topwater or big, 12 inch black worm?

    anyone tried it?

    duly noted...

so i checked the moon data. moon doesn't rise this weekend until 11:00pm...so it sets at 2:30pm the next day...which would put it high up in the sky in the mornings....

so i guess i will be setting the alarm a little early on saturday to give it a try...

where is artsmellyfish? isn't he the bassmaster?

    Night fishin...

I've done well throwing a big black Jitterbug and running it parallel to the bank. When they hit it - heart attack city.

Also, done okay with dark colored worms, buzzbaits, and spinnerbaits, or BIG "Fat A" type crankbaits barely wriggled on the surface at night.

I've always wanted to go into Sparkleberry and cast for bass at night - just afraid I'd hook up with more mudfish and/or gators than bass.

Black worm would be the trick at night, but 12 in is a little big.
The buzz bait is a good choice also.

I've only sat twice in a stand, but haven't noticed any decline in movement. I saw 11 yesterday with 1 being a buck. They came out from every bush at 7:30.

Sorry I am not too much help. I usually don't fish too much this time of year. But, topwater is always good through the end of summer. Minnow man cant catch anything that doesn't involve bottom fishing. During the heat I love to throw a CRIG or a git down. late the fishies will move up to feed. They are actually pretty predictable this time of year, kind of like a woodduck coming to a roost..the bait is really easy to find...for guide service, call 491-5732. This guide supplies the sneak boats and bullcrap. He works for a fish fry.

He's pond fishin, thrower. I don't think they have many docks to flip. I bet they have good cover to flip to, though.

I like the zoom frog or the siesmic around cover, too. If you haven't fished a soft plastic frog, you need to try it. That is a blast catchin em on that. I fish it on a spinning rod w/ 30 superbraid. You can skip that sucker 30 yards under brush and willows....
