BTW, that last sandbar on your left heading downriver is great to set up on before dark and fish it till just after dark. Set up in about 7 ft of water and throw to two feet off the reeds and then everywhere out to the deep side of the boat. Once it gets dark, move on into the flats...down river to the left...and don't be hesitant to fish in two to three foot of water. If you haven't had any bites for about thirty to fourty minutes, move. Use BIG 7ought circle hooks and just engage the reel...don't set the hook! Took me many hits before I trusted this, but it is the way to go. Good luck.

You may want to use nightcrawlers until you get the hang of this fishing thing.

Or you could always come on down to Moncks Corner the week after next and pick me up and I'll show you how to do it right!! No place to catch big blues like the good ole Cooper River. There's a reason they hold the big catfish tournament there every year. The guy who wins every year is the same one that taught me how to catch the cats out there!!

And what's wrong with using live bream for bait? The understanding we always had was that as long as you don't have over your limit in bream they were perfectly legal to use as bait dead or alive. Never heard of such a rule myself as live ones were illegal.

They better have a hook tear in their mouth if you are using them for bait.
If you catch bream in a cast net they have to be released.
Be proactive about improving public waterfowl habitat in South Carolina. It's not going to happen by itself, and our help is needed. We have the potential to winter thousands of waterfowl on public grounds if we fight for it.

I used to catch em like that when I was little, but you can't get the good sized ones that you need for bait that way. I wan't a nice big stumpknocker to sink down for the blue cats! When I go catfishing I'm not looking for anything less than 20lbs so you can imagine the size bream we use for bait. Hell most of you would probably slap me if you saw some of the ones we fish with!!
